about

‘kras’ counts twelve rustling & crackling tracks which are 100% recycled from scratches, clicks and noise from vinyl. Throughout the dirty, rotten sounds of vinyl scratches, one can still hear influences from funk, dub, jazz, hiphop, reggae, psychedelica, global beats and club house, albeit in a different way than usual. Also, there’s the longest track of the album with a scratch solo of turntablist virtuoso Broky B, chill and cinematic soundscapes can be experienced and - traditionally – on the last track the needle stays almost endlessly in the groove.

“Perhaps one could even dance to some of these tunes. Why not. I am not sure if he plays this all live or whether this is the result of extensive post production or computerized cut 'n paste, but he does a damn nice job.” Frans de Waard - Vital Weekly & Modisti

"... own compositions, which sometimes sound like hiphop, then as minimal techno. The original records are no longer recognizable." Lars Meijer - Revu

"... ingenious and beautifully mixed studio craft. The concept is so vague as it is impressive." Jasper the Rycker - Kwadratuur

"Gritty ... (duh) tracks that compromise between hiphop, old Funkstörung beats and ambient." Stanley - My Own Music Industry

“The ease, grace and skills with which x-0-x handles this not too convenient material arouses respect at times on the edge of admiration!” Monochrome Vision

Music of ‘kras’ is broadcasted on Kink FM and the Concertzender, and is used for advertisement by the exhibition of Folkert de Jong at the Groninger Museum.
